....lies of omission and other fun stuff

No one can lie, no one can hide anything,
when he looks directly into someone's eyes.
Paulo Coelho

I was thinking about the reasons people lie....
It seems there are as many different kinds of lies as there are people
who tell them....
I think we all do it....lie.

There are the little white lies of course...
most of those probably go out into the Universe with little or no impact...unnoticed...I think you know the kind...
How are you? Fine....
I was just going to call you...
I fell asleep
You look great!

And there are the lies that get told when
when someone wants to avoid an issue or calm a situation.,,,or crate one
Lies are told to protect others...these are often considered noble....
we tell lies to protect ourselves from the possible consequences of the truth...
and of course from punishment...
or to hold on to something or gain something.

we agree to tell each other lies
to hold on to the status quo...
group lies can be a comforting way to avoid truth.

People lie to improve their image....
humans tend to exaggerate and bluff, to impress or mislead.
Lies get told to gain control of a situation
or to control another human..
Corporations and Spin Drs. do it all the time....
to control us.

Lies of omission...this are nasty things, lies of silence...
withholding of information
 thus leaving a false impression,
allowing a false belief....
these lies can be most damaging
People who spin the truth for governments often leave out important bits of information in their desire to control how people might behave
if they had the full truth....
Corporate news does it all the time..omits important information...
Omission is a suppression of the truth...
Some say a lie of omission is not a lie at all, but that's a lie.

Among other common lies, we have the silent lie...the deception which one conveys by simply keeping still and concealing the truth.   Many obstinate truth-mongers indulge in this dissipation, imagining that if they speak no lie, they lie not at all.
Mark Twain

Then there are people who lie for no reason...
they lie when it would be just as easy to tell the truth.
And they will continue the lie even when the truth is evident....
these kinds of lies make me me feel out of balance.
I call it being gaslighted.
Most likely when someone says they will never lie to you...it's a lie..

I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.
Friedrich Nietzche

And of course there are the lies we tell ourselves....sigh..
but that's another whole issue...

....risk and hope

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing
Helen Keller

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your dreams before a crowd is to risk ridicule.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure
But to risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing is one who does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrows,
but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow, or love.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave - he has forfeited his freedom.

Only a person who takes risks is FREE...

......Osho Zen and me

Last week I decided to pull an Osho Zen card with the question in mind regarding how to get from where I am, to where I want to be and to help clarify just where it is I want to be…
I believe you have to have a clear direction/vision.
So I got centered and asked the question…

I pulled the Rebel card…
rebel:
1. protester: somebody who protests against something by defying authority
2. soldier who opposes government in power:
3. unconventional person: somebody who refuses to conform to the codes and conventions of society

I understand the rebel….
I’ve even been called one in an accusatory fashion….
But what does it tell me about my quest?
Could it mean to continue questioning, not simply to continue the path I’m on, to seek out less conventional avenues? To stop holding my heart's desire right below the surface...to seek the path less traveled?

I decided to take a look at what book had to say…
and it is beautiful.
The Rebel is the master of his own destiny…
we know that…
It’s living your truth….
a Mystic Rebel doesn’t rebel for the sake of rebelling but to be true to themselves.

“the torch he holds in his right hand symbolizes the light of her own hard-won truth.

Whether she is wealthy or poor,
the Rebel is really and emperor/empress because she has broken the chains of society’s repressive condition and opinions.
She has formed herself by embracing all the colors of the rainbow, emerging from the dark and formless roots of her unconscious past and growing wings to fly into the sky.

Her very way of being is rebellious ~ not because she is fighting against anybody or anything, but because she has discovered her own true nature and is determined to live in accordance with it.”

And

“the Rebel challenges us to be courageous enough to take responsibility for who we are and to live our truth.”

Is that a message or what?
It is clearly telling me to move forward with my true desire.
And I do know what that is…
but I can barely say it out loud.

....just a bit ago I drew this card...
