I took a little walk with my camera today....
This guardian angel overlooks my labyrinth.
She was here when I bought the property some 30 years ago....
oh my...
such a long time together.

When I carry in my mind and heart things that are causing me anxiety (a realKiller), or I have a question or a prayer...I often write it down and take it to my labyrinth where I will walk with intent and then burn the bit of paper and drop it in this vessel...letting go. (or making a strong effort to let go)...sometimes more is required. l0l
Letting go...
it could be a very long post just about that and how we do it?

This is CC...she chose to be my cat...she always walks with me...
and quite often expects to be carried.

Young actor portraying Abbie Hoffman...
.a real blast from the past...
here he's speaking about the infamous Democratic Chicago convention in 1968....
I watched the insanity from Houston, Texas where I worked for Operation Breadbasket registering voters.
I thought my the world was coming to an end.
...it was a further loss of innocence.

I went to a peace rally on Sunday.
It was organized by The Fresno Center for Nonviolence....I went with Daughter#2 and our friend Brian...I felt a heavy moment of sadness when we walked in the door...
we are still at war the 21st century....
I went to hear Kathy Kelly, the 3 time Nobel Peace Prize nominee and author of Other Lands Have Dreams, speak.
She has dedicated her life to working for peace.....
Kathy stands witness.
She was in Iraq during Shock and Awe, and in the Gaza during the 22-day Operation Cast Lead. She stands up for her beliefs and has gone to prison because she does...at some point during the speech my daughter turned to me and said...
'mom, I'd be so proud of you if you did a year in federal prison for peace"...lol..
I think she sets the bar a little high!!...
After Kathy got of stage I was able to chat with her a bit...
she has a lot of stories, a lot of things to share.
I found that she has real hope for change...
She thinks people are starting to wake up to the fact that war takes it's toll on all our dreams....
I wonder.

Peace Pilgrim
I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.

Julie, you live in or near Fresno? Peggy and I spent most of a spring and summer there in 1986. She had a temp job at the hospital north of downtown (funny I can't remember its name). Except for the heat, we very much enjoyed Fresno.
I just loved these photos. The cat looks a little old--is that why he wants to be carried, do you think?
P.S. I dig dandelions up and compost them. It's not THAT they are; it's WHERE they are that makes the difference.
To read more about Peace Pilgrim, especially a compilation of her own words, I invite you to visit http://www.peacepilgrim.org/htmfiles/WorldSteps.htm where you will find "Steps Toward Inner Peace" in various languages.
I also invite you to visit another website where a member of Friends of Peace Pilgrim blogs, writes bi-weekly Words of Inspiration, a quarterly Peaceful Journey newsletter and has authored a book, Wholeness in Living: Kindling the Inner Light -- www.WholenessInLiving.net
Hi Julie, great post! I love your angels and your cat is so precious!
Debby
What a lovely journey, from your lovely peaceful garden, to hopes of peace in the world around us.
I love the photos of your angels, cat and dandelions - three of my favorite things.
xo
such a lovely peak into your life. I love dandelions... I have a cookie recipe to try, once they show their beautiful heads in my yard. Two years ago I made wine, one would not think to eat their friends, yet
I eat them daily!
Snow,
I live about 35 north of Fresno and 22 miles sounth of Yosemite in Coarsegold. Little bitty town...maybe 10,000 people, 2200 ft. elevation. A lot of artists. And yes, it gets HOT...!!! And sometimes we get snow. It is also home to the Tarantula Festival.
C.C. is about 8 years old...she started out as my grandsons kitten, every night he would fall asleep holding on to her tail..she didn't..but now she is mine...I'm about the only person she doesn't hide from. She likes to be carried because she likes being elevated...and I suppose she feels safer....only the most cautious & smart cats survive here.
I wouldn't mind a field of dandelions...but compost is good...it's the root that has the medicinal properties.
Bob, thank you for the information...I will check out the sites. Your comment prompted me to her book.
Debbie, you're right, C.C. is precious and still very kitten like..and she is tiny.
Angela, I'm glad you enjoyed the journey.
Tammie, I'd love to know more about those cookies??
hug, hug
