hey God.....

Sometimes I would like to ask God why he allows poverty, suffering, and injustice when He could do something about it. But I’m afraid He would ask me the same question.

Yeah, he would try to weasel out of it, wouldn't he? Ha.

On the other hand, your resources are severely limited, and his are not, so it is this very question that was partly responsible for why I stopped believing in God. I literally concluded that it was more respectful to not believe in an omnipotent being who's okay with his creatures being miserable than it is to believe in one.

LOL...could be.
Well, I can look at this many ways....we could say God has given us all the resources we need for everyone on the planet to be cared for...This is an abundant planet...but along with all this abundance we were also given free will and that can certainly screw things up...:-)...and if there is something bigger, a god, I think he/she just watches us, like a movie...laughing and weeping and watching to see what we do next...hoping for the best.
sigh...

Julie, sometimes I don't know whether to respond or not. On the one hand, I like to dialogue, but on the other, my disagreement could be taken as somehow inappropriate.... I'll go ahead and do it this time anyway.

As I see it, we live on a planet upon which life is unavoidably unfair. For example, even if you are right and we could plant enough food for everyone to have enough to eat, it would be at a tremendous cost to other species. And then there's all the suffering that we couldn't prevent no matter how much we tried, For example, planes would still crash, babies would still have birth defects, children would still die in playground accidents, teenagers would still drown on picnics, and so on. We humans, COULDN'T prevent suffering. God, if he really is as he's usually presented, could prevent all suffering, and he could do it without anything good being lost.

You know, either way things aren't going so well...if there is a god, he/she doesn't seem to care, or figures we have everything we need to figure it out ourselves...I just don't know... :-)
