....the butterflies are back

To make a wish come true,
whisper it to a Butterfly.
Upon these wings it will be taken to
heaven and granted, for they are the
messengers of the Great Spirit....

Know thyself! A maxim as pernicious as it is ugly. Whoever observes himself arrests his own development. A caterpillar who wanted to know itself well would never become a butterfly.
Andre Gide

I watched two of these magical creatures meet and dance with each other straight up into the sky until they simple vanished...it was as if they had disappeared into heaven...perhaps taking my prayer with them?

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Chuang Tzu

And whether this happiness lasted a hundred seconds or ten minutes, it was so far removed from time that it resembled every other genuine happiness as completely as one fluttering blue lycaenid butterfly resembles another.

Herman Hesse

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."
Maya Angelou

"How does one become a butterfly?" she asked. "You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar."

Julie, you won't believe it. (well, you probably will) I just finished a post with a butterfly girl and have used the very same quote you did all over her! "How do you become a butterfly? You must want to fly so badly that you will give up being a caterpillar." These coincidences in life are quite amazing. I have placed the post in my draft section for now and will post in about a week. We are on the same wave length Julie!

Butterflies bring a smile to my face and an inner warmth, whenever I see one. The quotes you have posted capture 'butterfly emotion' perfectly!

Hugs,

Sue
