....we the people

in the house with the tortoise chair
she will give birth to the pearl
to the beautiful feather

in the house of the goddess who sits on the tortoise
she will give birth to the necklace of pearls
to the beautiful feathers we are
there she sits on the tortoise
swelling to give us birth

on your way on your way
child be on your way to me here
you whom I made new
come here child...come  be pearl
be beautiful feather...
Aztec prayer

It's really been a long time since I've posted anything here...time flys
I have thought of many things to blog about...
things that would engage me and you.
But they seem unimportant considering the crazy, fear inducing things that are going on all over the world...

snowy view out my studio window with the 300 year old Grandmother oak receiving a dusting of snow

The list is endless...
unemployment, joblessness, homelessness, foreclosures, loss of medical care,
food and gas prices soaring....
I don't know how it is where you are, but here schools are struggling and higher education is being priced right out of the reach of many....the dumbing down of America.

The National Debt...omg
Wars, occupations and genocide, even revolutions.  The cost of war puts us all in jeopardy...and military families forced to apply for food stamps...in America....rather we agree or disagree with war, that's just wrong...food stamps.

and it is all being paid for with the tax dollars of those
not wealthy enough to avoid them.
Corporations granted the same rights as individuals?
There is class warfare...
How are you doing?

Japan, The Gulf, Haiti..

Vat meat and cows that give human milk, yikes!...yet even with all the tinkering of the foods we eat millions of children go hungry every day...
and not just over there somewhere, but right here in the USA.
500 Million dollars cut from WIC...the safety net for hungry kids..

Our civil rights are being eroded and there is a news blackout of the things that matter...do you know how many of our military were wounded or killed yesterday?
But we are all made aware of Charlie Sheen and his antics...do you really care?
....What is going on?

even with all this I do hang on to hope...people are gathering..
making their voices heard...there is a low rumbling...
maybe it is the sound of reality sinking in....no one is coming to our rescue....

amazingly even with the all the negative there is  still  much to be joyful about..I know I am blessed... I still light my candles, turn up the music and dance every night..there is still something magical about letting the rhythm of the music take me over and I catch myself smiling as the primal beat moves me from here to there....tensions released.
and there is you...you make me smile too.

And my Muse comes when the sun shines...I think she winters elsewhere..Arizona maybe?
We've been working...this Spirit is on the wall right now..
she seems to hold the energy of Hildegard of Bingen.  Hildegard was an early feminist...
she lived in the 12th century.... she was a abbess of a Benedictine abbey...she was a preacher, a doctor, scientist, an artist and author, poet and composer who chafed under the restraints imposed on women by the culture of her time.
You may be familiar with her visions, her Illuminations, that she began painting when she was 47.

As always, your Spirit dolls are fabulous & full of personality...I especially adore the one with the colorful pants!

In terms of real life stuff, things are extremely tight in my corner of the world (our gas price is currently sitting at $4.40 per gallon) and just trying to scrape together enough to survive the month is wearing me down...current political trends infuriate me! Throw women, children, the disabled, the poor under the bus while the rich, greedy, & corrupt just keep on prospering...sickening!

Anyway, good to see you post! Love it when you pop in to share your work & thoughts!
Cheers, Michelle

Hi Michelle...Thank you for the nice things you said about the Spirit Figures...makes me smile...
Yes, the world stuff...sickening...$4.40 a gallon...are you in CA.?
Fully expect to see $5.00 by summer...that will raise the cost of essentials that much higher...looking a little scary...but there is always hope...and I believe in miracles...xoxo holding you in the light.

FABULOUS post Julie.

I believe that you have put into words how many people are feeling at the moment..not just in the US, but all over (one just has to read the news everyday to realize this). Amongst all this turmoil, angst, etc., though as you said, there is hope. Your post illustrates this so well - as do your Spirit Dolls.

Both are fabulous. Spirit Up makes me smile with the joyous colours. Reflections gives me a very serene feeling....a wonderful pair! Thank you so much for sharing these.

Hugs,

Sue

You are absolutely right. Many years ago my husband and I made decisions to live simply and participate in local not corporate (as much as possible - I am on bellsouth). We have our cellphone with Creedo, one credit card with Working Assets; Tom is a nurse; I work with the DOH; we don't have cable; we watch NPR and listen to public radio (financially support them also). We have been vegetarians for 28 years. We have has a very purposeful, happy life. But, like you, we hear about the unbelievable abuses that our corporations are allowed to take at the expense of the people, even when our government stands by doing nothing; even actually providing the tools for them to do so. But, I'm preaching to the choir. So yes, we do need a goddess who bleeds for us. Who bleed for the mountain tops that are being leveled. The waters that are being polluted. The grey wolves that are endagered but allowed to be shot. I think your dolls will help bring a healing aspect into the world. I have a cd with Hildegard's plainchants, song that she had written. It is ethereal. As I've told you before, I love your dolls, they are enchanting and I am sure your time creating them sends such positive energy into our world. It is one of the most important things we can do. It is our karma.

Sue and Brianne...Michelle too...you are the people who give me home....we have to keep sharing that our eyes are wide open...speaking out and taking action when we can...We do have to be the change we want to see in the world...Hat's off to you Brianne...hat's off to all of you for caring...xoxoxo

I can never get over the fact that the very poor and the very rich are the staunchest Republicans. I guess the former group still holds to Reagan's "Trickle Down Theory." Either that or the only things that their simple minds can grasp sufficiently to care about are banning gay marriage, putting the Ten Commandments in public buildings, teaching "Intelligent Design" in public schools, and so forth. So who will be our next president, Trump or Palen? I truly hope they both make it to the primaries, if not to the final race.

Hi Snow...I wish I believed it matters who the next president is...but I don't..the American voter is very hard to wake up...and until we do, I guess we get what we deserve...Democracy only works when We the People fully engage....when we take the time to educate ourselves...the information is available..linktv.org
coyoteprime-runningcauseicantfly.blogspot.com
and free speech radio...
Thanks for coming by...

"I wish I believed it matters who the next president is..."

Same here. I just meant that the race is more--or less--entertaining dependent upon the ridiculousness of the candidates.
