.....artist shamelessly tooting own horn

This is the Spirit Figure I entered in the Yosemite Western Artists show Saturday night. I arrived a Gallery Row, which is the home of Timberline Fine Arts Gallery, Williams Gallery, Stavast Gallery and Stellar Gallery The event was held at Stellar...the owner of Stellar, jon Bock is a fabulous artists and he also promotes all arts and artist in the area in a huge way. He is the driving force behind Sierra Art Trails and so many other things to keep the arts in the spotlight in our area.
I digress...
I had volunteered to sit Timberline from 5 - 6 pm before going to the YWA reception.
During that time my husband arrived and whispered in my ear that I had won Best in Show!! I didn't believe him....
I thought whoever told him was mistaken.
I was pretty sure I would ribbon in the fiber arts category.... but Best of Show never even came into my head as a possibility.
There are so many talented artists here....

But I did...!!! the Music Man & I won Best in Show in the fine arts category!!!...
A huge thrill for me and a nice nod to fiber arts!

So I shamelessly toot, toot..

Thanks for letting me...

Toot that horn (hell, I would have hired a band!) Julie you must have been floating on a cloud when you saw that ribbon! So awesome! Your Music Man Spirit and you are so deserving of this....you are an incredibly talented woman, and your work speaks to people, which is SO important.

Deb...thank you...it's hard to toot, however I've learning it's a must for artists unless you can afford an art marketer...there is actually a website called Art Biz that offers the online workshop, Shameless Self Promotion. Alyson Stanfield offers many, many classes and tips for artists. I'm part of an artist 'salon' here in the Mts. and we just completed her art marketing class...learned a lot.
Natalie, Thank you...I do work hard...but competition here often mean competing against friends and it's somewhat uncomfortable for me...but not so uncomfortable that I'll give back the ribbon! :)
Snow, I guess I did beat you to it!
Sue, thank you, thank you. I'm still a little floaty. Fiber arts don't always get recognized in Fine Arts..it's getting better, but I really didn't expect Best of Show. It's awesome to get validated...
Dubious, thank you. The jury process for Sierra Art Trails was Monday so we will all be getting our notices of acceptance (or not) in the mail soon. Glad you're going to take the tour..it's a lot of fun and you'll see some great art. Please come by my studio...there will be 3 other artists showing with me...Kathleen Mattox, Ellen Carnese & Valerie Runningwolf...we are a colorful and eclectic group.
PS...do I know you???
hug, hug julie
