Kwan Yin Goddess of Compassion

I’ve been thinking a lot about compassion (sympathy for the suffering of others, often including a desire to help)and empathy (understanding of another’s feelings: the ability to identify with and understand another person’s feelings or difficulties).....
If I’m to believe as I do, that my God/Goddess is a loving one and that we are put on this earth to love and be loved then I think I need to work much harder at having compassion for everyone….I think I am a compassionate person…but if I’m angry at someone, or hurt by them, or sitting in judgment, then I can’t extend compassion to them or to myself. I close my heart a bit instead of opening it wide, I can actually feel it happening and it is not where I want to go in this life. Closing my heart doesn’t serve the journey I’m on. Soooo, I’m going to try and put this mantra on my everyday list of things to work with…another tool…

May I enjoy loving kindness, may you enjoy loving kindness, may all beings enjoy loving -kindness….

I think if I’m thinking this I will not be able to be angry, hurt or sit in judgment

I discovered on the weekend that feeling angry at oneself or another is an opportunity from the God and Goddess to choose differently ...

You could have written for me. I often find that I'm more compassionate when I'm feeling down. When I'm up, I might perform kind deeds, but it is harder for me to relate to suffering. And, of course, any compassion that I feel for others must begin with compassion for myself.

Snowbrush,

It's like that saying, 'charity begins at home'...so your right, we must find forgiveness and compassion for ourselves before we can extend it to others...And in order to forgive ourselves we have to open up and take a look at our 'stuff', not an easy thing to do...the trail sometimes reminds me of a Grimm's Fairy tale..not for children or the faint of heart at all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to post...enjoy, julie

Hi sweetie...wonderful affirmation. I think that some people mistake kindness for weakness and while that does sometimes occur, it doesn't have to! Being kind can open you up to being manipulated & taken advantage of (none of us deserve that) but it can also open you up to do wonderful amazing things and when you do that, your spirit soars. So be strong, be kind and continue on your special journey Julie...you rock! Hugs, Carol

Thank you Carol....It is a journey for sure....I read your b-day post and it struck me that even the 'bad' stuff adds up to 'good' stuff if we can learn from it....We gather our wisdom from the challenges as well as the easy times.

hugs to you...julie

Hi Lisa,

I've got to say I love your blog...I haven't had the time to read more than a few posts, but the ones I have read are really great in many ways...this morning I was reading and on comes your music box with Abba singing Honey, Honey...between the humor of your post I couldn't help but smile.

Thanks for your kind words about my Spirit Figures...and yes, we need more good vibes in the world..

I love Quan Yin, she is my daily companion, and has been with me for eons. I discovered her 15 years ago...or she allowed me to see her in many ways. I feel her often in the eyes of others...I see her in you.
